Who are we?

Hi, I'm Matěj and my girlfriend Alex and I met two years ago during an internship at the UN in Geneva. We lived there for a while and then returned to Olomouc. At that time, we were still law students, but we already knew that we were not interested in the field, but we were too far gone to finish. Alex finally graduated in February, while I... well, I haven't yet...

About ten days after her graduation, we went to Warsaw together for six months. For a long time, we toyed with the idea of trying to come up with our own project, or something that at least somewhat resembles a business. During our stay, we came across a local designer who uses a 3D printer to make various interesting products, and this method appealed to us quite a lot. We thought about what we could print, and within a week we had not only an idea, but also our own printer. Until then, we knew nothing about 3D printing.

After a few weeks we learned how to model and after another few weeks we learned how to print. The first prototypes were really ugly. I still remember how we made our first lamp. It was disgusting, impractical and useless. It happened a few days after we had spent tens of thousands on a printer. At the time, we were both ashamed to say out loud that we might have just thrown that money in the trash and that the whole thing might have been stupid...

A more significant shift occurred when we bought more colors. There were still not that many, but it was a step forward. Just a nicer color combination made a lot of difference, and although it doesn't look like it, at the time the products seemed really good to us. From today's perspective, some of them look quite cheap, but they were still just prototypes.

This photo was taken about 10 weeks after buying the printer. It shows the first lamps that we no longer have to be ashamed of. It was a really big change. Suddenly we had so much filament that there was nowhere to put it. Every corner of our small room in a shared apartment was full of tools, lamps, light bulbs or cables.

We still haven't sold a single lamp, but we're not giving up. A big part of that is probably the fact that our e-shop isn't working yet. We hope to launch it in August and finally start operating as a real company that can generate something other than just costs.

We just received our first order thanks to Mrs. Eva! Despite testing everything several times, the order still did not go without a hitch. On the day of the order, I changed one small detail and unknowingly completely ruined the entire e-shop. Well, what the heck. Mrs. Eva was very nice, helpful and above all, for which we thank her very much!

Today we reached 1,500 followers on Instagram and received our 40th order. On average, we have been selling one lamp every two days since the beginning of August, for which we thank you very much!

However, we had a relatively high initial investment, so we are still far from making a return and we have a long way to go.
